Quick Mix

Basic Biscuit Mix  

4 cups regular flour
4
cups whole wheat flour  
1 1/2 cups non-fat dry milk  
1/4 cup baking powder  
1 Tbsp. salt  
1 1/2 cups shortening

Directions  

Stir dry ingredients until well mixed.  
Cut in shortening until well mixed.  
Store in tightly covered container in a cool place.  
Use within a month.

Substitutions  

You may omit the powered milk from the basic mix and use regular or soy milk in place of the water.  Or use powdered soy milk in place of the dry milk.  Carob powder may be substituted for any of the recipes using cocoa.

1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
Mix until just moistened and our into a greased pan. 
Biscuits   
(1 dozen)

10-15 minutes

Muffins   
(1 dozen)

Mix water and egg, dry ingred.

Waffles

Coffee Cake

Blend. Cover with topping.
Crumb Cake  
400 degrees

add 1/4 cup oil or applesauce to other ingredients and mix batter.

Top with:
1 cup brown sugar 
2 teas. cinnamon
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup flour

Mix these together and top cake batter before cooking.

Blend. Cover with topping.
Yellow/Chocolate Cake  
(2) 8" pans  
325 degrees  
25 minutes

1/2 cup cocoa for chocolate
Blend dry ingredients.  
Add others and beat.
Cobbler  
9" X 13" pan  
350 degrees  
25 minutes

1/2 cup butter or shortening Cut in shortening and sugar.  
Add water and stir until crumbly.  
Spread over any fruit filling.  
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Drop Cookies   
(4 dozen)

Blend and drop on greased cookie sheet
Peanut Butter Cookies  
375 degrees  
5-7 minutes

Blend fat, peanut butter, & sugar.  
Add eggs.  
Blend in gradually.
Brownies  
8"X8" pan  
350 degrees  
30 minutes

Makes a yummy cake-like brownie

1/2 cup chopped nuts  
1 tsp vanilla
Beat eggs.  
Combine dry ingredients.  
Add eggs and vanilla.  
Mix.  
Pour into greased pan.
